With the 2022 elections resulting in a split Congress, reflecting a heavily divided country, major healthcare initiatives are unlikely to make headway on Capitol Hill for the next two years, but bipartisan support exists for narrower “singles and doubles” issues that are of interest to the medical device industry, Mark Leahey, president and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) told Piper Sandler managing director and senior research analyst Matthew O’Brien at the investment firm’s annual healthcare conference in New York City on November 30.
