PQ Bypass: Bringing Percutaneous Approaches to the SFA

As percutaneous procedures have gradually encroached on surgery’s domain, perhaps the last stand for surgery has been long lesions in the treatment of peripheral artery disease. PQ Bypass hopes to change that.

Over the past 25 or 30 years, there has been what has sometimes seemed to be an inexorable march, driven largely by innovation in technology, to replace surgical procedures with interventional ones in the treatment of cardiovascular problems. Angioplasty took about a decade to almost entirely replace cardiac surgery in revascularization; more recently, while transcatheter approaches haven’t quite taken over surgical valve replacement, they represent a compelling alternative.
