Payors Pick Up Coverage as ACOG Drops Age Cutoff for Average-Risk NIPT

ACOG’s updated guidelines on noninvasive prenatal testing bode well for market expansion to women with average-risk pregnancies. Although they are not a formal recommendation, they have motivated payors to expand their coverage policies for NIPT in the average-risk population sooner than expected.

Eight months after the American College of obstetricians and gynecologists (ACOG) revised its influential guidelines on noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in the average-risk patient population, payor support for the test in that potentially enormous indication is exceeding expectations.
