Two decades ago, Boston Scientific pioneered the field of interventional neurovascular devices, hoping to create a complement to its successful interventional cardiology business. But the so-called “Decade of the Brain” never really materialized to the extent hoped and BSC’s financial troubles following its Guidant acquisition led the company to sell the business. The buyer: Stryker Corp.

Driving to the headquarters of Stryker Corp.’s Neurovascular Division in Fremont, CA, the surest way to find the building is to look for a big sign reading “Boston Scientific.”
