CMS Ponders the Path Ahead for AI Payments

Medicare’s methods for calculating how much to pay doctors for performing services doesn’t account well for AI software tools. CMS admits as much in its 2022 Physician Fee Schedule proposal that was released July 13 and the agency is looking to leverage the annual rulemaking to help it hatch a plan to fill the gap.
