ARTICLE SUMMARY:
Using ultra-wideband radiofrequency technology, LifeWave Biomedical is working to develop a noninvasive, easy-to-use maternal-fetal monitor that fills an unmet need for more accurate, reliable monitoring for the 60% of pregnant women who fall into the overweight or obese category.
Doppler ultrasound and the Toco (tocodynamometer monitoring) are the current standards in maternal-fetal monitoring, but they have limited effectiveness in the overweight and obese, the high-risk patients most in need of accurate and reliable monitoring.
