Briteseed has developed a near infrared (NIR)-based technology, SafeSnips, to assist surgeons in detecting and avoiding accidental vessel injury during minimally invasive surgery.

Since the advent of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, which provides many benefits but also limits surgeons’ tactile feedback and visual perception, accidental vessel cuts have become an increasing and costly problem, with an incidence rate of roughly 3.3%.
