Samay recently made history by becoming the first Latin American company to win the Grand Prize at Medtech Innovator’s 2024 conference, which awarded the start-up $350,000 in nondilutive cash and cast a venerated spotlight on its impactful work in the COPD space. Maria Artunduaga, MD, CEO and founder of Samay, was inspired by her grandmother, who passed away from COPD from secondhand smoke exposure. Through caring for her grandmother, Artunduaga experienced firsthand the challenges of managing respiratory disease based mainly on self-reported symptoms.
