ARTICLE SUMMARY:
A Bay Area start-up turned public company has a two-pronged approach for intra-arterial administration of chemotherapy and other therapeutics into hard-to-reach cancers.
RenovoRx CEO Shaun Bagai entered the medtech field via an internship at TransVascular, a Bay Area company founded by Josh Makower, MD, who Bagai says convinced him within a few months to pursue a career as a medical device entrepreneur to maximize his clinical impact. “Dr. Makower’s goal as a physician was to build companies and therapies that could reach more patients than he could as a practicing physician,” Bagai recalls. Inspired by Makower’s advice, when Bagai was later accepted into medical school, rather than attend he advanced through the ranks at TransVascular and eventually managed its clinical research program as a lead physician proctor.
