MIC offers hospitals a multi-app platform designed to standardize different sources of data across vendors and facilities so it can be used to remotely monitor patients and inform predictive AI models of impending events in order to reduce patients' risk and optimize treatment.

In 2010, Emma Fauss and Craig Rusin, the founders of Medical Informatics Corp. (MIC), had just completed their PhD programs, Fauss in electrical and computer engineering and Rusin in chemical engineering. Soon after, Rusin was recruited by the hospital at the University of Virginia and noticed that the process for gathering data for analytics was manually intensive.
