VCs continue to invest heavily in digital health and data analytics companies, and healthcare providers are also working to integrate these technology advances into their operations. Recent investment data and provider surveys suggest that stakeholders are beginning to sort the wheat from the chaff, with an eye toward products and technologies that offer the greatest clinical impact and the highest potential ROI.

VC money continues to pour into digital health/data analytics companies, with a total of $7.2 billion invested in 778 deals worldwide last year, a 42% increase over 2016, according to the latest healthcare IT funding report from Mercom Capital Group, “Healthcare IT Funding and M&A 2017 Fourth Quarter and Annual Report” (see Figure 1).
