ARTICLE SUMMARY:

Peritoneal dialysis has clinical, economic, and lifestyle advantages over in-center hemodialysis, but many physicians don’t prescribe it for their patients because it requires compliance to complex anti-infection protocols before each treatment. PuraCath Medical aims to eliminate that hurdle.

Most patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have two choices for their dialysis treatments: hemodialysis, which requires them to spend three days a week in a dialysis center to undergo treatment sessions lasting three or four hours, or peritoneal dialysis, which allows them to enjoy the benefits of treatment as they go about their daily lives.
