With a consumer-friendly hemodialysis system originally designed for home care, Outset Medical recently switched gears, uncovering an opportunity for its device to operate in a self-care model within existing service centers, improving the quality of life for patients and the cost-structure for dialysis providers.

Gone are the days when we have to wait in line for the bank teller to deposit our paycheck. We can still do that if we want to, but today’s technologies enable us to bank by smart phone and do many other things that used to require a visit to a facility and the assistance of another person.
