Aktiia: Wrist Wearable Delivers Seamless, 24/7 Blood Pressure Monitoring

Start-up Aktiia has developed the first clinical-grade PPG-based wrist wearable that can accurately measure blood pressure in the background throughout the day or night, bringing an unprecedented level of data collection, and potential insights, to the hypertension field.

The topic of remote patient monitoring (RPM) was front and center at the height of the pandemic, as providers were forced to find new ways to keep their chronic care patients safe and out of the hospital, and device companies, both large and small, stepped in with technologies designed to help meet their needs. And, as RPM becomes more deeply embedded into the patient care continuum, wearable monitoring devices, which offer convenience and familiarity, are likely to play an important role.
