ARTICLE SUMMARY:

Welcome to the September 27 edition of Pathways’ Picks, MTS Market Pathways’ weekly roundup of the most important global medtech regulatory, reimbursement, and policy news. This week we zoom in on key takeaways from two major meetings—the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society annual meeting and The MedTech Conference.

FDA device chief Jeff Shuren plans to push for some major changes to the agency’s status quo in the next round of user-fee-linked legislative reforms. European insiders remain alarmed with the Medical Device Regulation but are hopeful those who work hard will be rewarded. These are two important takeaways from the RAPS Regulatory Convergence conference in Philadelphia September and AdvaMed’s The MedTech Conference, both of which convened in the first half of this week.

For this edition of Pathways’ Picks, we spotlight some interesting things we heard while attending these gatherings. We’ll have more to say about some of these topics in upcoming articles in Market Pathways. For now, here are our takeaways, along with some more issues to watch, and dates to remember.
