Docs of the Month: IVDs a Strong Global Policymaking Focus in February

Sustained COVID-19 pressures continue to put IVDs in the spotlight—lab diagnostics were the most common topic of focus in February among global policy documents captured in Pathways’ Document Depot. A look at those docs and some other important releases from last month.

Docs of the Month is a regular column highlighting key findings from Pathways’ Document Depota running inventory of global medtech regulatory and policy official documents, including rules, guidance documents, memos, white papers, and more from national authorities, non-governmental groups, and global organizations.

February was a relatively light month for medtech policy documents, but among those that were issued around the globe, IVDs were a prevalent subject. Of the 26 documents captured in Pathways’ Document Depot in February, six of them address IVD policies. Five of those directly target COVID-19 test policies, underscoring that, one year into the global pandemic, governments continue to wrestle with policies to support effective testing programs.
