Device Firms Oppose CMS Plans to Curb New Tech Pay Applications

Industry advocates will meet with Biden administration officials next week to try to head off proposed changes by the Medicare agency to the New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP) application process. Companies say the updates would unnecessarily restrict access to the bonus-payment program for a significant number of devices. The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) has a meeting scheduled for July 18 with the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) about the proposals, which CMS could finalize by August 1.
