Forest Devices: Stroke Screening Device for the Prehospital Setting Speeds Treatment

First responders play a crucial role in getting stroke patients the right treatment in a timely fashion, but they lack simple, accurate, and rapid assessment tools. Forest Devices has designed a mobile diagnostic screening device for EMTs, which confirms stroke and discerns stroke type. The company’s first application is the identification of patients with large vessel occlusion stroke so they can be brought to the right setting for endovascular treatments.

Time is brain, they say, about the need for treating stroke patients as soon as possible after stroke onset to save lives and avoid permanent functional deficits, but much time is lost in the prehospital setting.
