When young entrepreneurs Carlo Perez, Edwin Liang, and Justin Allport founded Swift Medical Inc. in 2015, they wanted to dedicate technology to a particular problem in health care. A meeting with fourth co-founder Sheila Wang, MD, crystallized their mission. Wang, a dermatology resident at McGill University, introduced them to a patient with four wounds that had persisted for 11 years. At three separate times, he had requested assisted suicide. “We wanted to dedicate ourselves to something this critical,” says CEO Perez, and that’s how Swift Medical set off on a mission “to apply space age visualization technology to wounds at the bedside.”
