Former CDRH Director Jeff Shuren is joining the MedTech Innovator accelerator as an advisor. Shuren left FDA in 2024 and is now launching a medtech venture capital firm he is co-founding with other former device center officials. In the new post, announced June 18, he will provide strategic guidance to MTI and its portfolio companies on regulatory and global market access issues. MTI bills itself as the world’s largest accelerator of medical device, digital health, and diagnostic companies, supporting hundreds of startups and running pitch competitions throughout the year (including at MedTech Strategist’s Innovation Summits). Shuren’s “experience accelerating innovation while maintaining rigorous patient safety standards will be invaluable to our portfolio companies to help avoid costly delays and increase the chance of success as they advance innovative solutions to benefit patients,” said Paul Grand, CEO of MTI.
