As the orthopedics industry continuously seeks to improve outcomes in the treatment and management of musculoskeletal diseases, much of the focus has been on modifications to implants and instrumentation, the lifeblood of the industry to date. In recent years, however, some companies have started to explore other areas of innovation outside of hardware—specifically software-based solutions. In this article, we focus on an innovative technology beginning to generate more enthusiasm in the orthopedics sector: Augmented Reality (AR).
